ADA Transition Plan
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires transition plans be developed for state and local governments and their departments. Title II and specifically §35.150 of the ADA addresses the requirements for all levels of state and local governments to plan and implement a process for removal of accessibility barriers. The transition plan is both a planning tool and public document.
In 2009, the Park District hired Accessibility Consultants and Training Services to replace the original ADA Transition Plan, which was created in 1992. The Woodridge Park District ADA Transition Plan is a working document that accesses all Park District properties and identifies any accessibility barriers that exist.
The Woodridge Park District ADA Transition Plan:
1) Identifies the physical obstacles and reference that limit the accessibility of the park district programs, services, or activities to people with disabilities
2) Describes the methods to be used to make the facilities accessible
3) Provides a schedule for making the access modifications
4)Provides a yearly schedule for making the modifications if the transition plan is more than one year long
5) Indicates the public official responsible for the implementation of the transition plan.
