Woodridge Park District Awarded $237,400 Grant

February 3, 2010 - Woodridge Park District was awarded $237,400 through the Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant to help partially fund the construction of a skatepark at Janes Avenue Park. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in late spring and will be complete later this summer.

Woodridge Park District was among 48 other government agencies to receive grant money through the OSLAD grant program. Park District staff also applied for the Tony Hawk grant and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity grant, but did not receive funding from either program.

A rendering of the skatepark, which is in accordance with the District’s five year Capital Development Plan, was designed based on the feedback from a skatepark planning committee consisting of 14 local skateboarders and BMX bikers.
