During a recent scheduled playground safety inspection, Woodridge Park District staff identified major safety concerns at the Seven Bridges Park play equipment and swing structures.  Inspectors discovered the deterioration, rotting and significant termite damage affecting the wooden posts below ground.  As a result of the inspection, the playground was fenced off and closed for safety precautions.  The district’s plan to address this issue is as follows:

Fall of 2011: The playground equipment and swings were removed and legally disposed
Winter 2011/12: New playground equipment and swings will be designed for this area
Winter 2011/12: New playground equipment and swing purchase and installation will be bid publically.
Spring 2012: New playground equipment and swings will be purchased and installed

As a part of the District’s Capital Replacement Plan (CRP), playgrounds are scheduled for replacement on a 15 year interval (which, at Seven Bridges Park, was scheduled for 2013/14).  The District will consider reprioritizing other CRP projects in order to expedite the Seven Bridges play equipment replacement.
