Woodridge Police Working to Identify Man Who Grabbed a Woman

October 12, 2020 - Nothing is more important to the Woodridge Park District than making sure park patrons are safe when visiting parks, playgrounds and pathways. It is a responsibility that we take very seriously. Thatís why we wanted to share information with you regarding an incident that occurred on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at approximately 11:37 a.m.

We learned from the Woodridge Police Department of a criminal act that occurred on a pathway in the vicinity of Hawthorne Hill Woods (7100 block of Woodridge Drive). The Woodridge Police press release dated October 12, 2020 can be found here. To date, the offender has not been apprehended.

This news is of great concern to us, as I am sure it is to you. The Park District has pledged our ongoing assistance to law enforcement authorities with this case. We encourage anyone with information about the incident to report a crime tip to Woodridge detectives by calling 630-960-8998 or emailing crimetips@vil.woodridge.il.us.

The Woodridge Park District in partnership with Woodridge Police work very hard every day to take steps that contribute toward maintaining a safe and secure environment for park patrons to recreate safely in our parks, playgrounds, pathways and facilities. As a reminder of general safety tips, regardless of where you exercise or recreate, the Park District and law enforcement strongly encourages the following:
-Walk, run or use parks, playgrounds and pathways in groups or at a minimum together with a partner
-Get your exercise or use the parks during the day (Note: Woodridge parks are open from dawn to dusk)
-Carry a cellular phone
-Stay alert to what's happening around you; report suspicious behavior/activity
