About Storm

The purpose of the Woodridge Storm Soccer Club Program is to provide opportunities for soccer players who exhibit advanced skills and have a strong desire to play competitive soccer and further their development in the sport of soccer. This further development includes much more intensive skills development and conditioning with appropriate training by qualified volunteers from the community, as well as coaches and paid soccer trainers. The program is devoted primarily to providing an avenue in which the highest quality of sportsmanship, teamwork and fair play can be developed and exhibited by the select players, coaches, and trainers.

Because we are part of the Woodridge Park District, we are able to keep our fees as low as possible. Woodridge Storm Soccer Club does not pay for outdoor field rental or lights. The club receives a reduced rate to use the indoor turf for our winter practices. All these savings are passed on to the player. All fees are paid in four monthly payments after an initial deposit due upon acceptance. The fees cover all training, practices, tournaments and leagues. The only other fee is for the uniform kit which is less than $125.00.

Woodridge Storm Academy

The Woodridge Storm SC Academy provides an opportunity for players ages 5-9 –girl or boy–looking for a step-up from recreational soccer, but who may not be ready to fully commit to travel soccer. An Academy player will attend one session per week on Wednesdays 5:00-6:00 pm with our professional soccer trainer from Challenger Sports. This hour will contain drills and small-sided scrimmages. You can join the Academy while playing in WSA Recreational Soccer.

Challenger Sports supplies the trainers for the Storm and has been running summer camps through the Woodridge Park District for years. All scrimmages will be on our fields. The Academy is set up to offer training that is directly in line with the Woodridge Storm SC.

There are no tryouts. Everyone is welcome. Each participant will be given a Storm t-shirt to wear as a jersey.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long is the soccer season?

A: Tryouts are typically held in May for the upcoming fall, winter and spring seasons.

Q: How many practices take place per week?

A: There are two to three practices per week. Older teams might practice three times a week and younger may practice two times per week. The practice days are not yet known due to trainer availability and field availability. No practices start before 5:00 without permission from everyone on the team. All practices are led by a professional trainer.

Q: Where are practices held?

A: All outdoor practices are held on the Woodridge Park District fields. All indoor practices are held at the ARC. The indoor leagues will take place at the ARC or in Romeoville or Bolingbrook.

Q: How many games and what days are the games held?

A: There are 8 games each for fall and spring outdoor seasons that are usually held on Sundays. Sometimes teams have to play games on Saturdays or Friday nights depending upon both teams’ availability. The indoor games are played on weekends.

Q: How far do the teams travel?

A: For younger teams, distances are a factor in determining your opponents. In general you will not need to go farther than 30-40 minutes. Older teams my need to travel farther to achieve the correct competition levels. Half of the fall/spring outdoor games are played at home on our Woodridge Park District fields.

Q: What are the fees?

A: The fees in 2019 cost approximately $1,360 for residents and $1,390 for no-residents for the whole year. Most other clubs will charge over $1,900 for equivalent experiences. Other clubs also pay more to use our ARC facilities than Storm does.

QWhat do the fees cover?

A: Fees cover the league fees, professional trainers, goalkeeper training, all outdoor practices, a pre-season camp, fall and spring tournaments, all indoor practices and games. All coaches/trainers carry an “E” license or equivalent that requires them to attend educational clinics.

Q: What else do we need to pay?

A: The only other fee that is required is for your uniform kit. The kit includes one red and one black Adidas jersey, one black pair of Adidas shorts and one black pair of Adidas socks.
