Referee Information

Referees are an integral part of our club. Woodridge Storm Soccer Club only uses referees who have been certified with the U.S. Soccer Federation Referee Program. All games must have a center referee and most need assistant referees for linesmen. If you are interested in becoming a referee or assistant referee, click here to find out where and when the appropriate clinics will be held. New referees attend a two day clinic or an online clinic with a classroom clinic. Referees need to be re-certified every year. Recertification classes are only a one day clinic. Referees must be at least 12 years of age. Consider becoming a referee. You will learn more about the rules of the game and make a little money on the side. If you have any questions, contact us.

There have been some new changes to the Illinois Soccer Referee Committee rules. Anyone interested in refereeing at any level or position must complete the Heads Up Concussion on Youth Sports online program. Once completed, print the certificate and send it to the ISRC. If re-certifying, bring the certificate to the clinic. The online program is a free informational presentation that takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. This will not be an annual requirement. It only needs to be done once.

Also, all referees aged 18 and over must complete online background checks. The cost is $10.50.

Please refer to the ISRC website for deadlines and other information pertaining to referees.
