Woodridge Garden Club Presentation: Reducing Climate Change Through Composting

September 11 @ 6:45 pm - 7:45 pm

Discover how you can make a positive environmental impact simply by managing your household waste more responsibly. This free presentation is open to the public and will explore how composting not only reduces landfill contributions but also helps combat climate change—while creating a rich, natural fertilizer for your garden.

Join Rolfe Jaremus, a lifelong gardener and 47-year Woodridge resident, as he shares his expertise on composting and sustainable gardening practices. With over 60 years of gardening experience, Rolfe regularly speaks to garden clubs about composting, soil health, and tree care. He is a lead organizer and contributor to the Woodridge Garden Club’s annual Plant Sale.

Rolfe and his wife maintain an extensive vegetable garden, fruit trees, and flower beds both at their Woodridge home and their 60-acre family farm in Iroquois County. At both locations, they use compost bins to turn food scraps and garden waste into nutrient-rich compost, which they use throughout their gardens.

In this talk, Rolfe will show you how easy it is to reduce your carbon footprint and enrich your soil at the same time—with composting as a simple and powerful tool.
