October 7, 2014 – A public hearing was held at the Village of Woodridge Plan Commission meeting on October 7, 2014 to consider the Woodridge Park District’s request for a special use permit to build the Athletic Recreation Center (ARC) at the northeast corner of Janes Avenue and 83rd Street commonly referred to as the Janes Plaza Shopping Center. The Woodridge Park District also requested rezoning of the Janes Avenue Soccer Fields directly north of the former Janes Plaza Shopping Center from its current R-1 Single-family zoning to B-1 Neighborhood Shopping zoning district. The Park District has no plans to modify the soccer fields, but wants the zoning of the fields to be consistent with the ARC as the District proposed to consolidate the entire area into one subdivision lot.
During the public hearing there was an opportunity for public testimony for questions and comments, of which none was submitted by the public. Per the Plan Commission’s request, the Park District’s presentation for the zoning request and Plan Commission consideration has been rescheduled to the Plan Commission meeting on October 20, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at the Village Hall, Five Plaza Drive, Woodridge, IL 60517.
