July 1, 2015-Construction related to site improvements (Excavation / Site Utilities / Paving) for the Athletic Recreation Center (ARC) continues but has been hampered by continuous inclement weather and unsuitable soils issues.
Additionally, the suspension by Governor Rauner of the previously approved $2.5MM Park and Recreational Facility Construction (PARC) grant has caused additional project delays, since remaining construction contracts cannot be signed until the grant status has been resolved and grant agreements signed. Governor Rauner’s executive order that suspended the PARC grant expired on June 30, 2015 and therefore, the Park District hopes to hear the status on the grant soon thereafter in order to finalize construction contracts at the July regular board meeting.
The District is making every effort to move the project forward and to minimize further delays without risking the financial incentives generated from the grant as originally approved back in October 2014.
