Barb Larocco: Someone You Should Know

Working in the same community as her home and children’s schools is Barb Larocco’s favorite part of working for the Woodridge Park District. As the Fitness Manager, Barb oversees the daily operations of the ARC fitness center, including fitness guest services, fitness attendants, personal trainers and group exercise instructors, as well as a handful of independent contractors.

Prior to starting her role as the Fitness Manager, Barb worked for the Woodridge Park District for five years as an independent contractor for fitness programming. She also worked for the Elmhurst Park District as the Group Exercise Supervisor for 13 years. Before moving to Illinois in 2003, Barb lived and worked in Canada in a variety of management roles for GoodLife Fitness (largest chain of fitness clubs in Canada) including office administrator, personal training coordinator and group fitness coordinator, and team leader; as the assistant director of fitness for Canadian Health and Squash Club; and assistant director of The Spa Advanced Aesthetics and Hair Design.

When Barb is not at the ARC, she can be found at her children’s athletic events or volunteering for the Magnificent Mutts Rescue. In addition to helping dogs find their new forever homes, her family also has a few pets of their own. They recently adopted a deaf puppy, and they are using sign language to train him.
