Amanda Nichols: Someone You Should Know

For Amanda Nichols, the Aquatic Manager for the Woodridge Park District, swimming is her passion. However, she didn’t always feel that way. As a kid, swim lessons were her least favorite activity; but eventually she caught the swimming bug and began swimming competitively in junior high all the way through high school. Amanda has worked for the Woodridge Park District for a total of 24 years total – 9 years part-time as a lifeguard at 75th Street Pool, Hobson Pool and Cypress Cove, and 15 years full-time in her current role.

As the Aquatics Manager, Amanda plans and schedules the aquatics season, hires staff and schedules and implements their training, oversees all aquatic programs and budgets and schedules capital replacement projects for the water park. Additionally, she acts as the ActiveNet System Specialist, overseeing the daily tasks and maintenance of the District’s registration system.

Amanda’s favorite part about working for the District is seeing kids grow at Cypress Cove with starting off in swim lessons and swim team, then eventually working at the water park. When Amanda is not at the pool, you can find her on her bike. She also enjoys traveling and has visited 17 countries.
