May 10, 2018 – The Woodridge Park District Board of Commissioners appointed a new commissioner at their May 8 meeting. Commissioner Sam Venouziou was officially sworn in and began his term on the Board of Commissioners. He fills the vacancy of former Commissioner Jim Duffy, who recently passed away.
Sam is a long-time resident of Woodridge with an enthusiasm for the Park District, soccer and the desire to give back to his community. He and his wife, Jessica, have three sons and stay active in the community through coaching and volunteering. Sam began coaching his sons’ soccer teams when they played in the Woodridge Soccer Association’s (WSA) in-house program and for the Woodridge Storm Traveling Soccer Club. During his coaching tenure, he also served as the Director of Coaches, Vice President and President of the WSA board, and as a chairperson for the Woodridge Storm board. In his free time, Sam plays in the adult soccer and dodgeball leagues at the ARC, and regularly competes in the Woodridge Rotary Mini Triathlon.
