July 16, 2019 – Nicor Gas released the following statement regarding the infrastructure project at 63rd Street Park parking lot:
For the last several months Nicor Gas, with its contractor Precision Pipeline LLC, has been working to replace a 2,500-foot segment of 36-inch natural gas transmission pipeline within the Nicor Gas/ComEd right-of-way beginning north of 59th Street (just west of Meadows Swim Club) to north of 63rd Street (within the 63rd Street Park parking lot) in Woodridge. The installation of the new natural gas pipeline was originally anticipated to be completed in September 2018. However, we have experienced some delays.
As part of this project, we will continue operating a boring machine located in the 63rd Street Park parking lot. This machine will be used to safely install the transmission pipeline underground with limited excavation. Nicor Gas and Precision Pipeline LLC will be resuming work the week of July 15. Where applicable, items such as swing sets, gardens, sheds, etc. must be removed from the Nicor Gas/ComEd right-of-way before construction resumes. We anticipate the project will continue through the summer and conclude in the fall of 2019. We sincerely appreciate your patience as we complete this necessary work. Once the pipeline construction has been completed, Nicor Gas will restore the areas impacted by our construction with new landscaping and paving.
