April 28, 2020 – The Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) recognized the Woodridge Park District with Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR) and the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR) for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2019. These achievements are the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management to clearly communicate its financial story.
About GFOA Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Finance Reporting
This is the first year the Woodridge Park District submitted for the PAFR award. More notably, Woodridge is the fifth park district in the State of Illinois to achieve this accomplishment. In order to receive the award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting, a government unit must publish a Popular Annual Financial Report and are judged on areas such as creativity, presentation, understandability, and reader appeal.
About GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting
2019 marks the 10th consecutive year the District has received this prestigious award. The GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles. Organizations that receive the certificate are recognized for their spirit of transparency and full disclosure to communicate the financial condition of the organization to owners, bondholders, partners, and participants.
