The Woodridge Park District (“District”) and Roadrunners Soccer Club have joined forces to bring a premier traveling soccer club to Woodridge and Downers Grove. Starting this fall, soccer players of all abilities who are residents of the District and are interested in joining a travel soccer club will be able to tryout for the Roadrunners Soccer Club. Tryouts for the fall 2022-23 season will take place in May. More information about tryouts, registration and fees will be available in late March.
Prior to this collaboration, the Woodridge Storm Traveling Soccer Club was the primary traveling soccer program serving the Woodridge Park District in coordination with the Woodridge Soccer Association (“WSA”). However, due to decreased participation based on various reasons, the Storm program dissolved. In order to provide ongoing opportunities to participate in a youth travel soccer program, the District went through a comprehensive Request for Proposal (RFP) process to identify a local well-established club that would best fit the needs of the soccer community. Woodridge Park District staff, WSA representatives and the Board of Commissioners vetted proposals submitted by several clubs and selected the Roadrunners Soccer Club for their overall philosophy, professionalism, operational structure, opportunities to play based on different skill levels, proximity and relationship with Downers Grove community and commitment to Woodridge.
Based out of Downers Grove, the Roadrunners Soccer Club was established in 1980 and is one of the premier soccer destinations in the Chicagoland area. The training, coaching and levels of play are of the highest standards and follow training regimens as outlined by national guidelines. The club strives to build players of character who learn life lessons, respect, and commitment.
