Community Comes Together for a Cleaner Tomorrow: 2025 Clean Up the Parks Day a Big Success

With spring in the air and a spirit of giving back in full bloom, the Woodridge Park District hosted its annual Clean Up the Parks Day this past weekend. Approximately 200 registered volunteers of all ages stepped up to make a difference across the community, fanning out to tackle litter and debris at 17 local park locations.

Armed with gloves, trash bags, and plenty of enthusiasm, volunteers collected an impressive 68 bags of trash and 9 bags of recyclables. The day’s efforts didn’t stop there—teams also gathered 10 bags of leaves, and cleared out larger discarded items including 2 tires, a rolled carpet, and a pickup truck full of metal and debris. At Castaldo Park, where in addition to the usual clean-up, volunteers provided extra care by mulching around the park’s Oak trees, promoting tree health and park beauty.

Clean Up the Parks Day continues to grow as a cherished spring tradition in Woodridge, combining environmental stewardship with neighborly connection. Sign up information for the 2026 Clean Up the Parks Day will be available early next year.
