September 18, 2014 – A public hearing is scheduled before the Plan Commission of the
Village of Woodridge to consider applications by the Woodridge Park District. The Park
District is requesting a special use permit for “public or private facilities such as
libraries, hospitals, institutions, government buildings and other similar uses” in order to build the Athletic Recreation Center (ARC) at the northeast corner of Janes Avenue and 83rd Street. The location is the former Janes Plaza shopping center.
The Park District is also requesting rezoning of the Janes Avenue soccer fields directly north of the former Janes Plaza shopping center from its current R-1 single-family zoning to B-1 neighborhood shopping zoning district. The Park District has no plans to modify the soccer fields, but wants the zoning of the fields to be consistent with the Athletic Recreation Center as the district is proposing the consolidation of the entire area into one subdivision lot.
The public hearing will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Woodridge Village Hall, Five Plaza Drive.
