$2.5MM PARC Grant Reinstated to Fund ARC Multi-Activity Court (MAC) Gym as Originally Planned

May 3, 2017 – Construction of a multi-activity court (MAC) gym at the ARC, Woodridge Park District’s fitness facility, is anticipated to start in June 2017 with completion of the addition expected in spring 2018.

The 7,500 square-foot space was removed from the Phase 1 development of the ARC construction project due to the previous suspension of the Park and Recreational Facility Construction (PARC) grant authorized in October 2014. After a 22-month suspension of the originally approved grant, the Woodridge Park District was notified on August 10, 2016 by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources that the District’s $2.5MM grant was reinstated for full funding. The grant funds were earmarked to complete the original facility design which encompassed the MAC gym.

Now that the grant has been reinstated, the Woodridge Park District Board of Park Commissioners authorized the project team to move forward in completing the MAC gym addition. Construction bids were opened and contracts approved at a special board meeting held on April 22, 2017. Construction for the addition will not impact existing facility programs or operations.
